Latex Pillows - FAQs

What is a latex pillow? ▼

Latex pillows are made from natural latex, a material derived from the juice extracted from rubber trees.

Latex is a material known for its elasticity and resilience, making it an excellent choice for providing firm, conformable support during sleep. Latex is also hypoallergenic and therefore safe for people with allergies or breathing difficulties. It is very cool and prevents the accumulation of heat or sweat (thanks to its open structure that allows excellent air circulation).

What are the advantages of latex pillows? ▼

Latex pillows offer great advantages: they are highly resistant to deformation and the passage of time; they provide exceptional support for rest; they easily adapt to the movements of the head when sleeping, recovering their shape almost instantly; they are hypoallergenic; they are cool thanks to their open cell structure that allows air to circulate inside, making them ideal for summer or for people with a high body temperature.

Are latex pillows hypoallergenic? ▼

Yes, latex pillows are totally hypoallergenic and are an excellent option for people with allergies or asthma.

Latex is a material that offers great resistance against dust mites, mould or fungi. In addition, latex pillows have a compact and resistant structure that hinders the accumulation of microorganisms and bacteria, promoting a fresh and healthy rest environment. However, although latex pillows are hypoallergenic, it is possible to be allergic to latex itself.

How should latex pillows be cared for? ▼

To prolong the useful life of a latex pillow, always keep it in optimum hygienic conditions (a clean and ventilated pillow prevents humidity and bad odours). We therefore recommend always using a washable cover that protects the core of the pillow from stains and sweat, washing the cover weekly.

Although we advise letting the pillow core air out from time to time, avoid exposing it to direct sunlight as the latex could deteriorate.

How long does a latex pillow last? ▼

The durability of a latex pillow, as always, will depend on the use given to it and the quality of its care. In general, if proper hygiene is maintained, a latex pillow can last a minimum of 2 years in optimal conditions.

The latex that we use at Pikolin is a high-quality, resistant material with the ability to maintain its shape over time.
